Creston, IA—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Head Volleyball Coach Aleesha Cleaver has announced she is leaving the college for the head coaching position at William Penn in Oskaloosa. Cleaver has led the Southwestern Spartans volleyball program for the past two seasons.

Cleaver, a native of Davis, IL, was selected by Southwestern for her first head coaching stint in June 2016. The team made drastic strides under her direction, going from an overall record of 6-27 in 2016 to a record of 20-21 for the 2017 season.

Southwestern Athletic Director Todd Lorensen hates to see Cleaver go, but wishes her the best.

“Coach Cleaver has restored the strong tradition of the Spartan volleyball program in a short time,” said Lorensen. “Although we are sad to see her move on, we are excited for her new opportunity. William Penn is getting a great coach and a great person.”

Lorensen said Southwestern will begin the search for a new head volleyball coach immediately.
