The Southwestern sports shooting program hosted the Spartan Scholarship Shoot on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance in Afton, raising $2,465 to be utilized as scholarships for student-athletes competing as a part of the Spartan sports shooting program.

There were approximately 35 individuals in attendance throughout the day, with 20 individuals competing in the shoot. A shotgun was raffled during the event. Josh Armstrong, pictured above, was the raffle winner.

The Spartan sports shooting program will return at SWCC during the 2026-27 academic year following a one-year hiatus. Mark Johnson of Mount Ayr will coach the men's and women's teams. Students interested in the program should contact Johnson or complete the Recruit Me form on the Spartan athletics website.
