Southwestern Community College's Spartan dance team came home from the 2026 College Classic National Championship at the Orange County Convention Center West Complex in Orlando, Florida, from April 12-13, 2026, with its best finish in program history!
National placings included the following:
Team Performance - 2nd place (.66 behind 1st place)
Pom - 3rd place
Jazz - 3rd place
Hip Hop - 4th place
Paige Russo, head coach for the Spartan dance team, said, "I'm incredibly proud of this team and the way they represented our program and school on the national stage. Their work ethic, determination, and focus from the start of the season led to some of their strongest performances of the year on the nationals floor."
Being that close to a national first-place finish is a milestone for the Spartans.
"The outcome is in the hands of the judges, and while we can’t change the outcome, and they could be different if we competed again, this team walked off the floor knowing they gave their absolute best, and that’s something to be extremely proud of. This season has truly been one for the record books and without a doubt was the best season in program history."
